Day 1 Fasting From Facebook...

It just so happens that on this very first day of fasting from facebook, it was the last day of Vacation Bible School.

Yes, the week of Vacation Bible School is both rewarding and tiring (espcially by Friday!) The day began at 8:30 (ahem for those who did make it...yours truly overslept). The teachers had devotions while the children went to Bible Study one more time. I am not sure what Bible Study was all about. However, i am sure that the Bible Study teachers gave one more effort at sharing the ABC's of Salvation.

As I know it to be there was one girl who accepted Jesus as her personal Lord and Savior! That is exactly what VBS is all about! Sharing the Gospel Message with those precious Children who might not hear about Jesus but for just that one week during Bible School. Yes, we all got tired, but at the end of the week when you hear that at least one more soul skipped Hell and is going to Heaven; that's what VBS is all about! Mission Accomplished!

I helped take down the decorations after the reception following today's VBS program. As I walked through each room I was thinking, man this stuff went down lots quicker that it went up! Amazing huh?! It's always like that though.

VBS ended as quick as it started. Questions flood my mind...Will those kids hear the gospel message any more this year? Will they go to church on Sunday? What will happen to them? It's my prayer that the seeds we planted this week will be watered and eventually take root and one day they will come to know Christ as a result of one week at VBS.

So, now onto fasting from facebook. Jesus fasted and prayed. There are many reasons why people fast. Some do it to loose weight, others do it because they've indulged in something for too long, and most times they do it grow closer to God. My reasoning is to draw closer to God. I need to grow my relationship with Him! I need to spend more time with Him than on a page called Facebook. Now don't get me wrong, having a facebook isn't wrong. It's how much time you spend on it that can be a problem. So, I have a goal to spend much needed time with Jesus instead of on facebook. I'll do this for 30 days. I'll blog about my experience. Today was day 1.

So, Lord my prayer is that you would speak to me more clearly than ever before. Teach me new things, but more importantly, give me a closer walk with Thee!

  1. Yours truly finds it humorous and a bit ironic that while you are fasting we common folk get your updated blogs of facebook! LOL
